About U.S.S.C.

U.S.S.C. is a program of American Service Council, Inc.™, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization founded in 1978. Since many of America's elderly citizens subsist on a fixed income, U.S.S.C. believes there exists a moral obligation to take an active role to influence our elected leaders on policy that impacts the lives of senior citizens.

Today, U.S.S.C. has grown into a grassroots citizens group with more than 94,000 loyal members across the country. U.S.S.C. has launched nationwide petition drives, congressional lobbying efforts and direct mail awareness campaigns to save Social Security.

From the insolvency of Social Security to the inadequacy of Medicare, senior citizens face challenges that can only be met by ballots and organization. Action today is vital. We encourage seniors to be informed about the issues as well as where their elected officials stand and to communicate with them on a regular basis.

Already, seniors vote in impressive numbers compared to others, and this has given them great influence over policy. And that influence can grow. The population age 65-plus, currently about 34.7 million (13 percent), is projected to double over the next three decades to nearly 70 million - or 20 percent of the entire U.S. population.

Still, senior citizens should not and cannot take their predominance for granted. Activism and votes translates into political power that’s unmistakably recognized by elected officials. Please join us in our efforts to make Congress keep its promise of ensuring the safe, secure retirement all hardworking Americans have earned.
